We at the Broward County FSMTA have decided to take a stand
against unlicensed and illegal activities here in our county.
We are now working with law enforcement agencies to help put a stop to these crimes.
The main reason for licensure in the state of Florida is to "protect the public from harm", as per Chapter 480 "the Massage Practice Act", yet
we find that there are many individuals, and even establishments out there who are practicing without a license
or even doing unethical or illegal business practices. Some of the
establishments go so far as to utilize human
trafficking to get "workers" to provide their services.
Victims of
human trafficking are slaves who have been stripped of their families
and threatened harm against either themselves or their families if they do not
co-operate.
Many of them are sold into cheap prostitution rings and the so called "happy ending"
"body rub". In the state of Florida, if you are touching an
individual for compensation, you MUST have a license.
By law it is a licensed practitioner's responsibility to report these places and individuals, it is also the resposibility of the general public. If you know of any unlicensed or illegal activities, or have questions pertaining to such events, please do not hesitate to contact us here at the Broward FSMTA and we will help out as best we can.
You can report unlicensed activity directly to the Florida Dept of Health by emailing here.
Thank you for your co-operation.
